2009 Campus-Community Partnerships for Sustainability

April 24- 26, 2009

Western Kentucky University • Bowling Green, KY

The Campus Community Partnerships for Sustainability conference was initiated in 2006 to foster partnerships between Kentucky colleges and universities and their local communities to work together towards a sustainable future. The central idea behind the conference is that institutions of higher learning should be models of responsible environmental stewardship, and should use their human and technical capacity as well as their institutional operations to improve the quality of life in the communities where they are located and which they serve.

The first conference was held on Berea College’s campus in 2006 and attracted more than 350 people! In 2007, Eastern Kentucky University hosted the conference. Every year, the conference will travel to a different Kentucky college campus. Conference themes include: models of institutional partnerships, energy conservation, water quality protection, greenspace and habitat protection, green building, integrated transportation networks, building local economies and food systems, local governance and planning, and community environmental education.

The 2009 conference will be hosted by Western Kentucky University. Conference details will be available soon.
